Howard H. Byfield, II, departed this life on Saturday, May 16, 2026, at the age of 46. Known by many as a true "gentle giant," Howard was loved for his kind heart, warm spirit, and an infectious laugh that could brighten any room.
Born on August 13, 1979, in Worcester, Massachusetts, Howard graduated from South High Community School in Worcester and continued his education at Quinsigamond Community College. He dedicated many hardworking years to Price Chopper, Mattress Firm, and Allied Universal Security Services, where he left a lasting impression on coworkers and customers alike.
Family meant everything to Howard. Though he had no children of his own, he cherished spending time with those he loved most. He especially enjoyed competitive games of Uno, Sorry!, or Phase 10 with the family, creating unforgettable memories. He also played video games, fiddled with new electronics, or watched movies. During the holidays, he was famous for giving funny gag gifts at Christmas, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone. Howard had a nickname for each of his siblings and nephews. He affectionately called Trevis "Stinkus," Tyrone "Moo-Moo," Latisha "LaTissue," Tarique "Tum-Tum," and Aurelius "OH-Boyee." He truly loved family, good laughs, and making joyful memories with those around him.
Howard was predeceased by his beloved father, Howard H. Byfield, in 2023, whose memory he carried with him every day. He leaves behind his mother, Charleen Forbes; a sister, Latisha Broomfield, and her husband, Arnoldo Broomfield, all of Worcester; two brothers, Trevis Forbes of Shrewsbury and Tyrone Forbes, Jr., and his partner, Cristaliz Arroyo, of Millville; two nephews, Tarique Ambroise and Aurelius Broomfield; and a niece, Xayreliz Forbes Arroyo, along with countless family members and friends who will miss his warmth, humor, and loving presence.
Though our hearts are heavy, we will forever remember Howard as a gentle giant with a generous heart, a contagious laugh, and a deep love for family. His memory will live on in every card game played, every shared laugh, and every cherished family gathering.
